If you’re a model and want to learn the art of acting in commercials, this class is for you. Through improv exercises and a variety of other techniques, you will learn how to bring your commercial best to camera. You will practice interview questions, audition techniques and master the art of making yourself memorable for more than just your looks. Location: Mary Mackey has been acting in Commercials, Industrials, Television, Film & Stage for over 20 years. She started her career in 1984 when she was crowned Miss Northern California. From there she began a successful career as a high fashion runway model, working for top designers in Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco. She studied acting at the acclaimed film acting school, Full Circle Productions in San Francisco. She then went through their teacher training program and became a successful acting coach. A member of SAG, AFTRA, and Actors’ Equity, he has performed and produced commercials, industrials and television productions and has extensive theater experience as well. Bruce has been a long standing, faculty and core company member at the American Conservatory Theater (ACT), acting in more than 44 main stage productions and where for 12 years he was the director of the Studio ACT and Summer Training Congress professional training programs also teaching and directing extensively in the Master of Fine Arts program. He has also appeared on several other West Coast stages including the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, the Magic Theatre, Berkeley Repertory Theater, California Shakespeare Theater, the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival, the Eureka Theater, Theatreworks, the Marines Memorial Theater, and many others. He has also taught on a regular basis at Stanford University, Santa Clara University, the University of Hawaii, the Nancy Hayes Acting Studio, the Berkeley Digital Film Institute, and Notre Dame de Namur University. You will also learn how to create the Where in an instant and transform your audition from being an actor in an audition room, to being the character in the Where.You will learn how to slow the ball down and make your audition “pop." A solid 75% of the work that comes into casting offices in the Bay Area on a regular basis is “Corporate acting” work. These consists of video industrials, trainings, live shows at Sales, Marketing and Incentive meetings, trade shows and live presenter work, all of which can be very lucrative as well as consistent. It’s about how sharp your skills are at acting and/or presenting this type of material believably and with an understanding what you’re talking about. This class is designed to introduce the actor to the corporate market, performing and marketing. This class will include on-camera training with various styles of corporate copy, Teleprompter technique, ear prompter skills, and how to market directly to the production companies and corporate clients.
